PBR vs. R-Panel — Know the Structural Difference

Choosing the Right Panel for Performance and Strength

Not all exposed-fastener panels are created equal. While PBR and R-Panel share a similar appearance, their structural performance can make a big difference for your project.

PBR Panel

The PBR (Purlin Bearing Rib) panel features a 1¼” rib height and an extended bearing leg for extra strength and stability. That design allows it to span longer distances, handle heavier loads, and perform in high-wind and low-slope conditions — making it ideal for commercial, industrial, and agricultural roofs

R-Panel

The R-Panel is slightly shallower and lacks the bearing leg, which makes it faster and easier to install on walls, sheds, and residential structures. It’s a great option for interior cladding or smaller projects where maximum span isn’t required.

Contractor Tip:

Choose PBR panels when strength and span are priorities. Use R-Panels for quick installations and wall applications where aesthetics and speed matter most.
